What is Kazusa-bori?

Kazusa-bori

Residents in the Otaki region started digging a private gas well around the early Taisho Period, and well-digging became more popular in the Showa Period, and the number of private gas wells was 40-50 in 1929-1930. Natural gas was used as a fuel for households, lighting, and polishing rice and barley, while some farmers used it for drying cocoons. The consumption of natural gas increased gradually, and reached a peak around 1928-1931. Corporate production of natural gas was initiated by our corporate group (the then corporate name: Otaki Natural Gas Co., Ltd.), which started business in 1931. Our corporate group started supplying city gas, ushering in an era in which the processes for producing, transporting, and supplying natural gas are controlled in a safe way. Our corporate group has secured its position as a pioneer in natural gas business and a leading company in the field of development of natural gas dissolved in water.
