Gushing gas from the well in early days
Our corporate group is the most time-honored natural gas company in Japan, which was established in 1931.
“K&O Energy Group Inc.” was established in 2014 by transferring of stocks which the natural gas producer “Kanto Natural Gas Development Co., Ltd.” and the city gas company “Otaki Gas Co., Ltd.” isuued.
Origin of K&O Energy Group
K&O Energy Group was founded as a joint holding company of Kanto Natural Gas Development Co., Ltd. and Otaki Gas Co., Ltd. on January 6, 2014. To name the company, we combined the two companies’ initials “K” and “O” with “Energy Group,” to indicate a corporate group that produces and supplies valuable domestic energy resources.

Description of the business of K&O Energy Group
Other businesses
We sell electricity, conduct construction business, sell gas equipment, drill geothermal wells, assess geological conditions and water quality, develop oil and gas in the U.S., etc.
Strengths of the gas business
Our corporate group produces natural gas in Chiba Prefecture, and supplies the natural gas as city gas to customers, including households, in Chiba Prefecture. By doing so, we realize the production and consumption of natural gas all within Chiba Prefecture.
Strengths of the iodine business
Iodine, one of valuable domestic resources
Japan produces the second largest amount of iodine after Chile in South America, accounting for about 30% of the global production amount. Japan is said to be resource-poor, but in terms of iodine, Japan is resource-rich.
About 80% of the total production amount in Japan is from Chiba Prefecture. Our corporate group produces about 15% of the production amount in Japan and about 5% of the global production amount.
The iodine produced in Chiba Prefecture is exported to the world as a raw material for various products, so it is one of resources Japan can boast to the world.

Promising resource with increasing purposes of use
Iodine is used as a raw material for medicated gargle and disinfectants in our daily lives. Recently, it has been utilized in the hi-tech field, including the polarizing films of liquid crystal panels. Iodine is a promising resource whose purposes of use are increasing in various fields.

We aim to grow as a corporate group and contribute to the development of local communities and the realization of a sustainable society by addressing the problems with local communities as a specialist in development of domestic resources and a general energy enterprise.
